August Goals

Dark Light

Apparently, I like to keep you waiting. I’m sorry about it. I know how much you love my boring life in the jungle. Next month I’ll try to post my goals no later than on the 5th of August.

I have one good news to share with you. I’ve killed Pappy, my dear flesh-eating friend. I plan on writing about my battle against it as it was a long one. In the end, heavy metals got rid of it. I’ve probably lost 10 years of my life with my 40 injections, but who cares, it’s gone.

I now have a big scar on my left wrist. An ideal position to incorporate a microchip. Imagine being able to open my car with my wrist, that would be an awesome trick. I might have to upgrade my car first, though. I don’t think my Subaru Forester from 2002 with its lack of technology, will comply.

Oh, and we went from no internet at home to fiber optics. It took some persuasion. 9 months. But I did it. It’s 20 Mbps. You may laugh, but for Costa Rica, it is high speed. Let’s see what else I can get in 9 months. And please… Not another kid.

Now in regards to this virus running around, we’re FINALLY entering the first wave of it. Costa Rica locked everything down at the beginning of it, and we were stuck at 5 – 30 cases a day. The numbers have improved, though. We’re now at over 400 a day. And they are enforcing new restrictions. It took 4 months to get to where we are. Looking at the government’s great decisions: opening gyms and closing the beaches down. I expect the situation to improve in 2021. Maybe. Hopefully. Being stuck at home with wife and kids is not always easy. I do love them though. Don’t get me wrong.

The thing that annoys me is that all the media is talking about is who’s fault it is. People like to find someone to blame for it all. After all, it’s easier not to take any responsibility. Mr. Orange president is very good at it. Simply follow his Twitter account to read more about his love for China and every democrat out there.

Every day at 1 pm, Costa Rica announces its numbers. The highlight of my day. One thing I’ve noticed is that every day they say that almost ALL of the hospitalized people have pre-existing conditions: diabetes, obesity, smoking…

Why are we all looking like crazy for a cure and no media/government is pushing people to have a healthy lifestyle? It is the number one way to prevent getting sick or at least develop aggravated symptoms. A cure is important, but it won’t help you with the next pandemic. I guess there’s not enough money to be made out of healthy citizens.

So please, if you are not in your best shape and are drinking Coke and eating sh*t (ie. almost anything packaged from the supermarket), I suggest you to take action. I’m not judging you. I just want you to live and be healthy! If you need help with anything, feel free to send me an email. We shouldn’t rely on drugs to get through life. Besides maybe psychedelics.

As always, a long intro but I like to give you more insight on my life, where I’m at and coming from. Bad jokes are part of it. All I need now is to reach more people. Hopefully that’ll come at some point…

June, a review

If you need a refresher, feel free to do so. Otherwise, let’s dive right into it.

Relationships

My goal was to call my brother, Alex and my friend Ben in Paris. I did call my brother when he announced he may have COVID-19 due to his roommate having symptoms. It took him 5 years to tell me he had a daughter. It took me one month to call him since he announced it. All good though. He’s still alive and didn’t display any symptoms.

However, I didn’t call Ben. I’ll try to do so this month.

Verdict: 50/50. Better than nothing.

Health & Fitness

I’m pretty sure by now you are bored with my push-ups but I’m pushing through with them. I started on the 2nd of January with 10 a day and I haven’t missed a day since. I’ve done push-ups for the last 188 days.

Verdict: Despite not getting stronger, I’m following through.

Soul & Mind

I’m well on track with my daily meditation, reading and writing. I only missed one day of reading the previous month. However, I am reading less which doesn’t make me so happy. I believe our internet connection is not helping. Procrastinating on social media is easier than reading…

I’ve finished one book:

An interested read if you are interested in boosting your cognitive abilities. Jim Kwik started life on the wrong path struggling with school and learning. The issue is that we are never taught how to learn or how to read in an efficient way. We learn things with antiquated tools (rote memorization…) at school and these methods stick for the rest of our lives… unless we unlearn and find better ways to achieve our goals.

Lastly, my goal was to set up a tarot reading. Well, it wasn’t a tarot reading but a birth chart reading, which is astrological and not based on cards. My reading was very insightful, and it was interesting to see how deep astrology goes. I’m not a super firm believer in astrology as I believe it defines too much who you are, and pseudo-sciences often use the Barnum effect to their advantage, but I still feel it was worth it. Many things were accurate and resonated with me. I think it’s an interesting thing to do as long as you don’t try to make sense of everything with it.

Verdict: I’m happy with my progress.

Business

I didn’t set any business goals for June. With the current situation, things are too unpredictable. However, I am seeing some small growth on my digital nomad resource. It’s costing me more money than it’s earning (ZERO), but I’m learning things while doing so. Let’s just say I’m paying for education and who knows, maybe in a couple of months, things will look different.

The only thing is that we have no source of income right now. It’s not the best situation to be in but at least we have bananas and coconuts.

Verdict: I managed to ace my nonexistent goal.

Now let’s look dive into my goals for the month. Don’t be too excited about them though. I’m still at a stage where I’m not working on crazy goals due to the situations. I’m spending a lot of time home with the family, therefore not working on life-changing projects like my ‘how to create jokes like Thomas’ course. But feel free to let me know if that is something you’d like to join.

Relationships

  • Call Ben, my good friend in Paris
Let’s do it. I have 18 days left to achieve it!

Health & Fitness

  • 40 push-ups a day
    3 sets: 15 / 15 and 10. It shouldn’t be too difficult.
  • No gluten for a month
I’ve done a no gluten month in April already. However, this time it’s not just me, but my whole family. Well, technically my daughter is following a gluten-free diet since birth. The hard part is breakfast as I love bread…

Soul & Mind

  • Daily Meditation
  • Daily Reading
  • Daily Writing

Business

I won’t set any business goals this month until the situation clears up a bit. What I’m looking for before being able to be more specific here is for us to have a routine with the kids: activities, play dates… Not easy right now.

And you? Any interesting goals for the remaining days of July? Please share below or privately, I’d love to hear about them!
